The Spruce Evergreen takes its shape from a specific, familiar moment: a spruce after snowfall, branches pulled low by the weight. The rounded base reinforces that naturalistic feeling, giving the piece a settled, organic quality that reads differently from the more upright trees in the collection. Clear glass lets the form do the work, and on an LED base the downward-swept branches catch light in a way that’s worth seeing.

    Seconds are fully functional pieces that don’t meet our strict visual standards. Because every item is made by hand, small variations naturally occur throughout the making process. Some seconds reflect the learning curve of new artisans or the refinement of a new design, while others simply fall outside our tolerance guidelines. When this happens, the piece is designated as a second and offered at a reduced price.

    Seconds are typically offered at 10%–30% off the original price, depending on the piece.

    Seconds may include subtle differences in shape, size, or finish. Common variations can include:

    1. Slight dimensional differences beyond our tolerance range, typically ⅛"– ½".
    2. Small bubbles within the glass.
    3. A gentle wobble that does not affect stability.
    4. Occasional stones or cords in the glass, which reflect the molten material and furnace environment.

    These variations are visual in nature and part of the handmade process. Pieces that are unsafe, sharp, or unstable are never offered as seconds.

    No. Because seconds celebrate variation, each piece is unique and may differ from the product photography shown. That individuality is part of what makes seconds special.

    Seconds are not eligible for gift boxing or wrapping. However, you may contact our Customer Care team to purchase a gift box separately if available. Gift messages may still be added at checkout.

      Spectacular Second

      The tree is absolutely gorgeous. No one would ever guess that this is a second. It looks perfect and I will not hesitate to buy other seconds in the future based on this purchase. It joins my little forest of five. I plan on expanding my forest.

      Spruce evergreen tree

      This tree was a second, but I did not see any difference between this and a “first”. Your sales staff is amazing! They are so helpful and accommodating. I have a collection of 8 trees now. I keep them on display all year long and they are beautiful!

      First Disappointment from Simon Pearce

      Over several years, we and our daughter-in-law have purchased a number of pieces of glass, both regular and seconds. They are all beautiful and used regularly. The recent Spruce Evergreen is an exception. I realize it is a second, but the difference from the online photo and description seems significant. First, it is 1/2” shorter than the 6” height advertised, and the base is much larger than shown. The top also looks narrower than the picture. In our past purchases, it was nearly impossible to see the difference from regular pieces. Is it because this time i relied on the online presentation, rather than in person?

    While many items are eligible for our signature gift boxes with ribbon, please note that not all products qualify. Gift Boxes are unavailable for seconds items, lampshades, books, gift cards, oversized items, and specific bowls and lamps.

    Additionally, some boxed items may not be eligible for ribbon wrapping.
