The following briefly summarize our benefits program.
Simon Pearce 401K Retirement Plan
Simon Pearce encourages employees to save for their retirement. All employees who are 18 years of age and complete three months of employment are eligible to participate in the Simon Pearce 401(k) Retirement Plan. The Simon Pearce 401(k) Retirement Plan offers 20 different investment options within the Morgan Stanley fund group. There are 2 components to the retirement plan:
- 401(k) plan: Eligible employees can defer from their paycheck on a pretax basis up to 50% of their eligible earnings up to the IRS maximum. Participants are always 100% vested in this money.
- Employer matching contribution: If you participate in the 401(k) plan, Simon Pearce will match your 401(k) deferral percentage. The match is 50% on the first 4% that you contribute to the plan. You are 100% vested in the plan after 3 years of service. Matching contributions are made with each paycheck.
Medical - Dental - Prescription - Vision
We have done our best to offer a comprehensive health and dental plan to meet your insurance needs. On the first of the month following three months of service with Simon Pearce, you will be eligible to enroll in our Health and Dental Plans. Employees must work over 30 hours per week to be eligible. The health plan includes vision coverage and a prescription drug program, which also features a mail order option.
Short and Long-Term Disability
We hope you never have to use it, but if you have an accident or an illness, Simon Pearce has coverage for short and long-term disability at no cost to you. Simon Pearce offers eligible employees Short-Term Disability coverage on the first of the month following three months of employment. The Short Term Disability benefit is 60% of base compensation after the first day of an accident or the eighth day of an illness. Short-Term Disability is available for up to 26 weeks. We also offer Long-Term Disability on the first of the month following three months of employment, providing 60% of base compensation after short-term disability has expired. You must work 30 hours per week to be eligible for Short and Long-Term Disability coverage.
Life Insurance
Eligible employees are provided life insurance, at no cost, for an amount equal to their yearly base compensation up to $50,000. Coverage begins the first of the month following three months of employment and you must work 30 hours per week to be eligible.
Supplemental Benefits
Simon Pearce provides you the opportunity to apply for, at your own expense, additional voluntary benefits. These include Disability Income Protection, Term Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Cancer Coverage, Personal Accident, and Accident and Sickness Hospitalization Plan. You must work at least 30 hours per week to be eligible.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees may elect to set money aside on a pre-tax basis to pay for non-reimbursable health care and/or dependent care expenses. On the first of the month following three months of service with Simon Pearce, you will be eligible to enroll in the Flexible Spending Accounts and then again each December for the upcoming year. Employees must work over 30 hours per week to be eligible to participate in the Flexible Spending Accounts.
Benefit Time
Many of our locations are open weekends and holidays so we combine our vacation, holiday, personal, and sick time into one category called Benefit Time. Benefit Time is based on years of service and is accrued based on the hours you work each pay period. Benefit time is prorated if you work less then 36 hours per week and is not available for employees who work less than 20 hours per week. Simon Pearce also observes and is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Employee Assistance Program
Life has many twists and turns, and sometimes you need some extra help. Simon Pearce provides an Employee Assistance Program to all employees and their families, at no cost to the employee. This program provides confidential counseling services for a variety of needs, including substance abuse, relationship, legal or financial issues.
Tuition Reimbursement Program
Each position at Simon Pearce requires certain skills and abilities and we encourage employees to continue to develop their capabilities. After one year of employment you are eligible for reimbursement of tuition up to $1,000 per calendar year for course(s) taken at accredited colleges or universities. These courses must be directly related to a current position or potential future positions. Employees must work 30 or more hours per week to be eligible.
Continuing Education
We believe in developing our employees through a variety of ways. Continuing education is one of those ways. We provide opportunities for employees to attend workshops, conferences and seminars that are job related.
Employee Discounts
This is one of our favorite benefits! Eligible employees receive a 50% discount on pottery and glass made by the company, 50% off lampshades and cutlery, and a 20% discount on everything else. In our restaurants, you also receive a discount of 50% at lunch and dinner for the employee and one guest.
Other Perks
You never know what we will come up with as an extra benefit to our employees. In the past we have tried to do things for our employees like discounted ski and amusement park passes, reduced pricing on heating oil, wholesale clubs, or special sales on Simon Pearce products! We also hold some great parties throughout the year!
